Terms of Service
Last updated: 4 April 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Trellis Data Insights platform and any related services (collectively, the "Service") provided by Trellis Data Insights ("we", "us", or "our").
By creating an account or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
[Company name, registered address, and jurisdiction to be inserted here.]
2. The Service
Trellis Data Insights is a natural-language analytics platform that allows you to ask questions about data in databases and files you connect, and receive answers, charts, and dashboards generated by artificial intelligence.
The Service is provided on a subscription basis. Features available to you depend on the subscription tier you have selected. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with reasonable notice where practicable.
3. Accounts
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when registering. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account at legal@trellisdata.io.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, are used for fraudulent activity, or remain inactive for an extended period.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Connect data sources you do not have authorisation to access
- Attempt to extract, scrape, or reverse-engineer the Service or its underlying models
- Transmit malicious code, viruses, or any content designed to disrupt or damage systems
- Circumvent subscription limits, authentication, or access controls
- Use the Service to process data in a way that violates the privacy rights of individuals
- Resell or sublicense the Service without our written consent
We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and to suspend or terminate access without notice if we believe a violation has occurred.
5. Your data
You retain all ownership and intellectual property rights in the data you connect to the Service. You grant us a limited licence to process that data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to connect any data source to the Service, and that doing so complies with all applicable laws, including data protection legislation and any agreements you have with the owners of that data.
The Service is read-only. Our AI only generates SELECT queries and can never modify, delete, or insert data in your connected databases.
6. AI-generated content
The Service uses large language models to generate SQL queries and interpret results. AI outputs may contain errors, inaccuracies, or incomplete information. You are responsible for reviewing and validating any outputs before relying on them for business decisions.
We do not warrant that AI-generated queries or answers are accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose.
7. Subscriptions and billing
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. All fees are non-refundable except where required by law or as expressly stated in these Terms.
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to paid features until that date.
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with 30 days' notice. Price changes will not affect your current billing period.
Subscription limits (questions per month, data sources, dashboards) apply to creating new resources. Existing resources above a limit are never removed when you downgrade.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, trademarks, and content, is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or brand features.
If you provide feedback or suggestions about the Service, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use that feedback for any purpose without obligation to you.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not warrant the accuracy of any AI-generated content.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, business, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or £100, whichever is greater.
[Liability cap to be confirmed with legal counsel for your jurisdiction.]
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights, including data protection obligations relating to data you connect to the Service.
12. Termination
Either party may terminate these Terms at any time. You may do so by cancelling your subscription and deleting your account. We may do so by giving you 30 days' notice, or immediately if you materially breach these Terms.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We will delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved by good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
[Governing law and jurisdiction to be confirmed with legal counsel.]
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by a prominent notice in the Service at least 14 days before changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
